Understanding Data Freshness in Looker Studio

Last Updated: December 17, 2024

Note: Google Data Studio is now known as Looker Studio.

While editing a data source schema, you get the option to change the data freshness settings:

freshness 1

Use the data freshness setting to determine how frequently the data source schema should check for updated data from the connected data source.

If you are pulling data from Google Analytics then the data source schema can check for fresh data every 1 hour, 4 hours or 12 hours.

To change the data freshness setting just click on it:

12 hours

set data freshness

However, if you are pulling data from other data sources say ‘Google Sheets then you can change the data freshness setting to: ‘every 15 minutes’, ‘every 1 hour, ‘every 4 hours’, or ‘every 12 hours’.
