How to use Demographics: Age Report in Google Analytics

Step-1: Navigate to the ‘Demographics: Age’ report:

Step-2: Make sure the date range of the report is set to the last three months.

Step-3: Click on the ‘Ecommerce’ tab of the report:

Step-4: Sort the data table by ‘Revenue’ metrics:

Step-5: Note down the top 2 or 3 biggest age group in terms of sales from the data table. For example, from the data table above we can conclude the following:

> The majority of website sales (33%) came from 45 to 54 age group followed by 25-34 age group (30%) and 35-44 age group (22%). 

Step-6: Now keeping this demographic age data in mind and all the great understanding that you have developed so far by interviewing your client, provide insight.

Following is an example of insight:

In terms of website sales, men in the age group 25-54 are your primary target audience. Older men seem to spend more money on the website then the younger men. Consider spending most of your marketing efforts and resources in targeting men in the age group 25-54 and see how it goes.
