How to add Facebook Pixel to WordPress Website
Prerequisites for adding a Facebook pixel to WordPress Website
- You need to have a WordPress website with a custom domain. Not the free WordPress website like mywebsite.wordpress.com
- You have admin access to your WordPress website.
- You have an active Facebook Business Manager account.
- You have at least one Facebook ad account which is linked to your Facebook business manager account.
- You have the ‘Manage Ad Account’ access for the Facebook ad account.
Follow the steps below to add the Facebook pixel to your WordPress website:
Step-1: Login to your Facebook Ads Manager account: https://business.facebook.com/adsmanager/
Step-2: Click on the ‘All Tools’ drop-down menu:
Step-3: Click on the shortcut named ‘Events Manager’:
If your Facebook pixel is not already set up then follow the steps below, otherwise jump to step-10:
Step-4: You will be asked to create a new data source: Click on ‘Connect a Data Source’.
Step-5: An overlay will appear like below, select ‘Web’ and then click on ‘Connect’.
Step-6: Give a name to your Facebook pixel and then click on the ‘Create Pixel’ button:
Now you have created your Facebook pixel.
Step-7: Enter your website URL in the text box and then click on the ‘Check’ button:
Step-8: Click on the ‘Next’ button:
Step-9: Click on ‘Pixel Only’ and then click on the ‘Next’ button:
Now jump to Step-13
Step-10: Click on your Facebook pixel:
Step-11: Click on the ‘Manage Integrations’ button:
You should now see a dialogue box like the one below:
Step-12: Click on the ‘Manage’ drop-down menu next to ‘Browser pixel’and then click on ‘Add to another website’:
You should now see a window like the one below:
Step-13: Click on the ‘Use a partner’ button:
Step-14: Scroll down and then click on ‘WordPress’:
You should now see a dialogue box like the one below:
Step-15: Login to your WordPress website and install and activate a new plugin named ‘Facebook for WordPress’:
Step-16: Click on the ‘Settings’ link to configure the settings for the ‘Facebook for WordPress’ plugin:
Step-17: Click on the ‘Get Started’ button:
Step-18: Click on the ‘Continue’ button:
Step-19: Make sure that you are connecting your website to the correct Facebook Business account, correct Ad Manager account and correct Facebook pixel:
Step-20: Click on the ‘Continue’ button:
Step-21: Click on the ‘Next’ button:
You should now see a screen like the one below:
Step-22: Click on the ‘Done’ button:
Step-23: Click on the checkbox ‘I agree to share my token with this site’ and then click on the ‘Confirm’ button:
You should now see a screen like the one below:
Step-24: Navigate back to your Facebook ad manager account and then click on the ‘Next’ button:
Step-25: Click on the ‘Next’ button again:
Step-26: You should now see the ‘Active’ notification. Click on the ‘Next’ button:
Step-27: Click on the ‘Next’ button:
Step-28: Click on the ‘Test events in Events Manager’ button:
You should now see a new tab opened in your browser window like the one below:
Step-29: Click on the ‘Test events’ tab:
Step-30: Scroll down the screen, enter your website URL in the text box and then click on the ‘Open website’ button:
Your website should now open in a new tab in your browser window.
Step-31: Navigate to different pages on your website.
Step-32: Navigate back to your Facebook events manager. You should now see the events being recorded:
Step-33: Navigate back to another browser tab which shows the window ‘Connect your WordPress account to Facebook’ and then click on the ‘Finish’ button:
